Positive energy: Serotonin
Lean meats including turkey and chicken promote serotonin production – a key chemical our brain releases to boost mood and energy. To avoid erratic blood sugar swings and cravings, it is beneficial to combine quality protein with slow release carbohydrates, try poached egg on toast or a chicken noodle soup. Great snacks for work or on the run include nuts and fruit or hummus and raw veggies. Finding balance with food leads to balanced energy and general wellbeing.

Tension release: Magnesium
Stress depletes our ability to relax as we remain constantly alert and pent up. This can lead to achy joints, tension headaches and unease. Heal and free the mind and body with magnesium rich sea salt, also plenty of fresh dark leaf greens including Kale, Spinach and Swiss chard.

Immunity boost: Vitamin C
Tense muscles in the body release our fight or flight stress hormone cortisol, this can defence against illness. Counteract this with plenty of fresh citrus fruit, broccoli and bright coloured vegetables. Also keep hydrated to help the body flush out those toxins.

Anxiety relief: Omega 3
Heart healthy oily fish such as sardines, mackerel and salmon contain Omega 3 fatty acids that naturally lower our adrenaline levels which in excess can trigger both anxiety and depression.
